Washington's Headquarters in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
During marking period three, the class was busy learning ! Students annotated Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech and then created one of their own incorporating how their faith will help them shape a better future. They then presented their speech to their classmates. Early settlements in the New World were formed and we discussed the reasons why countries wanted to settle here and what reasons the settlers had for coming over. Then we began focusing on the New England colonies which we finished right before we had to stay home. From home, we momentarily stepped away from the colonies to acknowledge women's history month, and began our lesson on the 100th anniversary of the women's suffrage movement by doing biographies on many of its leaders.
10/18 - Now that (most) of our state presentations are completed, the class is learning about the Native Americans who lived in the Americas. As they learn about these groups, we will be discussing note taking skills and how to find the important information in an article.
9/27 - The students are learning how to do research by looking up information for their in-class state projects. We are discussing natural borders, natural resources, and landforms within the different states/regions. At the completion of this project, each student will present their state to the class.
We are reviewing our states and capitals while we are learning about the regions of the United States.
9/18 - finish classwork of creating flashcards for the following states:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut (State on one side & capital on the other side)
