In the third marking period, we discussed how the Church established Christianity in the Roman Empire. Then we looked at how different types of images can be aids for prayer. The differences between the Church in the East and the West were learned about, as well as how Pope Paul VI promoted unity and worked for reconciliation with the Greek Orthodox Church. During this time frame, the students learned about the elements of a Gothic church and then each eighth grade class created their own cathedral.
For the beginning of Lent, we began the lessons on Lent. Additionally, the students were listening to a daily meditation and reflecting upon it. On days when they did not have religion, they heard it in one of their other classes.
