During marking period three , students learned about God's grace through the story of Saul's conversion and how St. Katharine Drexel allowed His grace to work in her life helping others. They worked on ways to learn the Gifts of the Holy Spirit which they received at Baptism and will be strengthened when they make their Confirmation. Chapter 8 was focused on our faith and how the Apostles' Creed lays out what we believe as Christians.
For the beginning of Lent, we began the lessons on Lent. Additionally, the students were listening to a daily meditation and reflecting upon it, as well as choosing a small act of praying, giving, or fasting to do each day. For the meditation, the students found a spot in the room away from each other and they listened to the Catholic prayer meditation. I have a wonderful picture in my mind of the students all around the room in these moments of prayer - it always makes me smile!

Homework for the weekend of 10/5-6:
If you attend Mass this weekend, share what you learned from the priest's homily about the mustard seed.
Otherwise, read Sunday's Gospel reading (http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/100619.cfm) and write what you
think the reading is about.
Two or three lines written on paper is all that is needed.
